Billy Joel Issues Friendly Response to Elton John's Tough Love - Spinner

A day after the media reportedElton John's tough critique ofBilly Joel, saying that the Piano Man should go to rehab and"do something better with his life,"Joel has issued a response for his close friend and longtime touring mate: no bigs.

"Elton is just being Elton,"said Joel in a statement released on Wednesday, according to theAssociated Press.

John's comments will appear in an upcoming issue of Rolling Stone, in which gives he gives Joel a dose of tough love, revealing that entire tours the pair had planned together had to be cancelled due to Joel's"alcoholism"and other afflictions. While John predicted that Joel would react adversely to his comments, Joel appears unmoved by them either way and says his friendship with John remains solid.

Since 1994, Elton John and Billy Joel have toured extensively together in a successful and satisfying co-headlining format, under the show name"Face to Face."Joel, who attempted suicide in 1970 after battling depression, has gone to rehab twice in the 2000s, including, most recently, a month-long stay at the Betty Ford Center in 2005.
